TESTIMONIALS

WEIXING Z. (YALE)

I couldn't have done it without Jabez’s help.

After scoring the same score on my ACT Math test three times in a row, I knew I needed to seek professional help. I came across Jabez and was immediately intrigued by his work. Going into my first call with Jabez, I was skeptical about the outcomes. I feared that Jabez would be like any other tutor who continuously teaches students about widely known techniques and strategies that do not contribute to a student’s success. Within the first few minutes, I could tell that Jabez was unlike any tutor that I’d had before. In fact, he was the opposite. He set out a personalized approach that allowed me to view the test from a different perspective. Instead of thinking from one step to another, he taught me the concept of backsolving, which helped me increase four points on my math score. Throughout my learning journey with Jabez, he has supported and motivated me even when I started to lose hope in myself. “You got this,” he would continuously say. I carried this support and motivation into my next ACT test and was able to increase my ACT score from a 32 to a 35. I am still in shock at my ACT score but know that I couldn’t have gotten here without Jabez’s help. Jabez not only portrays the role of a teacher but also a friend, always having my best interests in mind.

MATTHEW W. (UGA)

When I took my first two ACTs, I scored a 26 on both. No improvement despite months of preparation.

When I first met with Jabez, he set standards to receive a score near 33-34. I thought he was crazy at first. After getting a 26 twice, the possibility of seeing a number on my screen above a 30 seemed impossible. The immediate thing I noticed was that Jabez wanted to lower my stress. During every meeting, he told me, "You're a superstar, you're going to get the score you want." Jabez also paid attention to me at every meeting to come up with a personalized approach to how to help me. We went section by section focusing on the English and Math primarily. We started going over each question, one by one, and identifying what I did wrong. After that, we applied it to other questions and told me to focus on that concept. He also told me to review all the questions I missed every day to make sure I didn't miss the concept again. He told me, "Making mistakes is okay, as long as we don't make the same ones." As we continued this process, my mock test scores slowly rose. Eventually, when I took my third official test, I was anxious to see my results. When I got the email, I was sure to see a low number. That had just been my experience. When I opened the ACT website, I saw a 31 composite. I was blown away. My English score had risen from a 28 to a 35. Once I took my fourth test, my math score had risen from a 27 to a 33. My super score was now a 32. The thing I notice about Jabez compared to other tutors is that he cares about each of his students and learns about them individually. He's in it to help students and is passionate about what he does.

My husband and I are thrilled with our son’s ACT result after tutoring with The Prep Doctor. With Jabez’s expert guidance through his ACT program, Harrison raised his score from a 28 to a 35 composite with two perfect 36 scores in English and Science. Jabez hones in on their particular weakness and teaches them how to master the types of questions they repeatedly miss. Jabez customizes nightly and weekly practice tests based on the academic areas that need mastering. Our daughter Sterling, who had previously worked with Jabez for SAT prep, improved her score by 240 points; she received acceptance to nine excellent institutions. We highly recommend The Prep Doctor if you want to help your child achieve the highest ACT or SAT score possible. Every single point makes a huge difference in acceptances and scholarships, which is why we knew this investment would pay off 100-fold.

Who would have thought that my ticket to ACT perfection would be handed to me during a haircut? A conversation about school arose between me and my hairdresser, and when the ACT came up, she said I should work with Jabez. I had my doubts at first, but let me tell you, that was the best haircut of my life. Thanks to her recommendation, I scored a 35 on my first official ACT attempt. When my family first got into contact with Jabez, we had a friendly phone conversation and established firm plans and goals. It was the first of many times Jabez exhibited his admirable traits of being both extremely organized as a mentor and extremely reliable as a friend, always willing to accommodate and adjust based on his mentee’s needs. At first, I feared the ACT. It didn’t help that my first practice test yielded unfortunate results. However, Jabez was always confident that I was capable of much more. Personally, despite being an introvert myself, I found Jabez to be very chill and easy to talk to, which made him easy to work with. I worked with him over the summer, completing ACT practice tests at a comfortable pace. Each time he reviewed my test results, Jabez taught me new patterns and strategies to help me conquer the ACT. Through his teachings, I gained a firm understanding of the ACT itself and raised my score by 7 points, ultimately achieving the 35 I desired. For me, he proved to be the key to achieving my ACT goal.

Several of my friends highly recommended Jabez for ACT tutoring. I wanted my son to take the ACT without any help, the first time, to get a baseline score. After he scored a 24, I knew it was time to call Jabez. My son plays varsity lacrosse, which made the tutoring sessions and the time allocated to the ACT prep homework a real challenge. Jabez was flexible in meeting with my son later at night, after practice, and held him accountable to keep the ACT a top priority. Jabez is an extraordinary teacher and motivator. He explained things in a way that was easy for my son to understand and retain. Jabez challenged my son to push him in many areas, and the hard work paid off. We were told that the biggest jump in scores would come on the second test after the tutoring sessions. My son scored a 30 on his first attempt after the sessions, and on the second attempt, he scored a 33. We were excited but not surprised. My son felt so much more confident after working with Jabez, and during the exam, he was intentional in using the principles Jabez taught him. My son enjoyed the tutoring sessions with Jabez and ended up gaining a friend through the process. I would highly recommend Jabez to anyone looking to improve their ACT scores. Jabez helps the students with the ACT exam but also shares some great insight into the college acceptance process, which was very beneficial for us, as parents.

AMY K. (PARENT)

I wanted to send a huge ‘Thank You’ out to Jabez. When our son Ian took the ACT for the first time, he tested at a 19, and our previous counselor recommended he abandon the ACT altogether for a different avenue. We then reached out on a referral to Jabez. We explained our situation, and he began working with Ian immediately. Ian raised his Reading score by 13 points! His composite score is now a 28, and he has gotten acceptance into four colleges so far and has scholarships to three of those. We will be signing up our other children as well. Having the responsibility taken from us to stay on top of the applications and essays and deadlines has made the college process so much more enjoyable for all of us. We now get to enjoy the journey and let our son be accountable to Jabez.

BRITTANY D. (AUBURN)

Starting my journey on the ACT, I was doubtful. The first time I took the ACT, I achieved a score of a 27 with no prior studying or tutoring. The second time I took it (2 months later), I tried to study and prepare on my own and still achieved a 27. At that point, I knew that I needed to reach out to someone for help, knowledge, and materials that I could not obtain on my own. Through recommendations from peers and classmates, I found my way to Jabez Park. While getting to know Jabez and becoming more familiar with the ACT, I began to prosper not only in the ACT itself but in my self-drive and motivation. Jabez helped open my eyes to goals and dreams that I didn't even know were a reality. After studying and learning under Jabez, I recently reached an ACT composite of a 33 and still hope to score higher on my next attempt with continued help from Jabez. Going into my senior year, I now have a broader variety of schools to realistically choose from, as well as a sense of accomplishment and pride in my abilities. Jabez has evolved into a long-term mentor as well as someone that I know I can always count on.

TATIANA M. (PARENT)

Jabez - the ACT Whisperer. A 5/5-star tutor!

It is my privilege to share my experience with Jabez, so others could benefit from hiring him as an ACT tutor and mentor. We heard about Jabez for some time, as friends mentioned what a positive impact he had working with their kids. Not only well informed about the ACT and the college admissions process, but Jabez is also extremely knowledgeable, focused, honest, and patient with his students. He was very personable and developed a great connection with my son. My son was looking forward to each online session with Jabez. My son felt extremely confident and prepared for the ACT because Jabez’s strategy and techniques build confidence, which led to a positive result. I highly recommend Jabez to anyone interested in seeking help with ACT prep.

GRIFFIN T. (UGA)

I thought I had reached an academic dead-end when I received my second 27 on the ACT. Shortly after, I began throwing all hopes of a top-tier university and began looking for sub-interest schools. Months later, Jabez and I are laughing at those thoughts as we push for the top echelon of universities. He taught me much more than how to “get past” the Leviathan of the ACT, he showed me, step-by-step, how to wield the sword and slay it myself. Throughout this lengthy and difficult journey, I gained much more than simply being a tutor. I gained a friend and mentor. I now aspire to view the world with such confidence as Jabez and can only thank him for how he’s made a lasting impression on me. I would not be applying to schools with a 33 composite score without the 4-5 hour-long sessions and 2 a.m. skypes. Jabez truly made my dreams a possible reality.

SHARON M. (PARENT)

I recommend Jabez to every person I know who is looking for an ACT tutor. He is really good at motivating his students to overcome any and all obstacles that come his way. His services can be a little pricey, but I have wasted thousands of dollars on ACT programs that don’t work, and honestly don’t care about the success of my son. My son was offered a baseball scholarship to one of the top DI baseball programs in the nation. Contingent on his ACT score, the program was offering different amounts. With a 26 on the ACT, the scholarship would have covered half of his yearly tuition. With a 30, the scholarship would have covered his entire yearly tuition. From our first conversation, I knew Jabez was the right tutor for my son. During our phone call, Jabez, without hesitation, recommended that we strive for the full scholarship. At the time, my son’s best ACT score was a 22. As a parent, I had been told many times that ACT scores rarely increase by more than three or four points. Naturally, I was stunned by Jabez’s confidence and was unsure whether he would really be able to help my son score a 30. I decided to trust him and we worked with him for three months. My son scored a 27 on the first ACT after our lessons. We were surprised by the progress on the score! Moreover, Jabez continued to work with our son through email. He helped our son stay on a study schedule for the next month and a half. On the December ACT, my son received a score of a 31 and accepted a full scholarship to the University of Cincinnati.

DAVID N. (GEORGETOWN)

I took the ACT three times. The first time I scored a 22. The second time, I did a little studying and scored a 24. The third time, I attended a ten-week ACT class and improved my ACT score to a 25. My super score was a 26. It was a tough feeling that no matter how hard I worked, I would struggle to get a good ACT score. I thought I had reached my ceiling. My friend recommended that I take the ACT one more time and call this guy Jabez. I was taken aback because my friend was not the type to talk about colleges and standardized tests. I was curious so I reached out to Jabez, and I am so glad that I did. One lesson with Jabez showed me that I was approaching the ACT the wrong way the entire time. I applied to colleges with an ACT composite score of a 32. I will be attending Georgetown University.

CHERYL R. (PARENT)

We contacted Jabez as ACT testing time was nearing for our upcoming senior. We were hoping our son could get his score up to a 34 to meet Georgia Tech standards. Jabez began with a personal starting-point assessment; then they got to work. Throughout the process, Jabez met with our son online and got him to practice, focus, and parent in a way that we, as parents, couldn’t seem to do. Jabez is so relatable, so easy to talk to, and so easy to work with. Our son reached his 34 scores, and we couldn’t be happier with his results.

CHRISTIAN A. (UGA)

I went to Jabez after taking the ACT twice with no improvement (as I received a 27 composite on both attempts). I was hoping to score somewhere in the thirties, but Jabez gave me bigger goals in order to pursue my collegiate dreams. He showed me strategies and ways to “attack the test” and I received a 34 composite on the exam. The difference between Jabez and every other tutor you will ever meet is his drive, intensity, and vision. He will match the effort you put in and create a mutualistic relationship to help you pursue your dreams. Furthermore, he goes above and beyond in every aspect of the plan. I paid for his service solely expecting him to show up every Tuesday and help me study and prepare for the exam, yet he has done so much more than that. Jabez would work with me on multiple days of the week (including Saturday nights) to help me reach the next level and open up limitless opportunities. His above-and-beyond work ethic was vital in aiding me to reach the 34 on my ACT. Finally, Jabez is helping me prepare and curate my application to have a chance of admission into truly elite schools in the United States. Jabez will certainly guide you to improve your ACT score tremendously (for me it was by 7 points) while also preparing you for the next step in your life. Jabez is a truly fantastic guy and it was my pleasure working with him!

BENJAMIN R. (STUDENT)

When Jabez asked me if I could write him a review, I immediately said yes! Now that I’m sitting here, I don’t know what to write. Jabez is a genius. Jabez is a passionate tutor. Jabez is a problem-solver. I was feeling really anxious about the ACT and wasn’t sure how I was going to improve. From the very first session, I could tell that Jabez knew what he was talking about. The practice was specifically assigned based on what I needed t work on. Whenever I started to feel overwhelmed or stressed, he would say that the ACT was nothing more than a game of Skeeball, a random game we had to play for college admissions. I highly recommend Jabez to anyone looking for an ACT tutor. I don’t know how I could have scored a 35 without his help.

AVA L. (MISSOURI)

When I first took the ACT, I went in with no studying or preparations and not really having a goal in mind for what kind of score I wanted. On that first test, I received a 26. I didn’t know what I wanted at the time, but I knew it wasn’t that. My parents had heard of Jabez through friends, and we had a phone call with him to discuss what he could do to help and where he believed he could get my score. We constructed a plan, and I began to meet with Jabez regularly. As a student-athlete in my senior year, my schedule was packed. Jabez was very flexible with when we could meet and never made me feel like my ACT practice should be overwhelming. He was very understanding when I had busy weeks and helped me manage to practice for the ACT in a way that never put me behind in actual schoolwork. By the end of working with Jabez, I brought my score up to a 30 and received extremely valuable help with college essays. Jabez even extended personal advice regarding my future career that I have taken into serious consideration. Overall, my experience with Jabez was amazing. He truly takes the time to help students in a personal way and works just as hard as the student to make sure that the ultimate goal is met.

HARRISON R. (UNC-CHAPEL HILL)

My mom and I contacted Jabez with the hopes of attaining the best ACT score possible for me to be able to apply to any college I desired. I expected to obtain a 34+ ACT score and that is exactly what Jabez helped me do. He was very attentive to my questions, always prepared, and flexible if something came up in my schedule. I had a fantastic experience with Jabez as my tutor, mentor, and friend. I got a 35 on the February 2020 ACT and I could not have done it without the help of Jabez.

KYLE K. (UGA)

When I first heard of Jabez, I had no idea that he would end up becoming not only my ACT tutor but my mentor whom I aspire to be like, and also my friend. I was not sure what to expect in my first ACT lesson. Will he be boring? Will this even help? Will I be able to get my dream ACT score? It turns out that I was asking myself questions that would be answered in the first few minutes of our lesson. All of these had one answer, yes (except for the first, Jabez is anything but boring). After the first minutes of the lesson and hearing Jabez talk about the ACT, I could sense a fire in me kindling up inside me and telling me that I was going to crush the ACT. And throughout the months that fire kept going, and throughout the months, I can proudly say that Jabez never let me down, whether it be the constant homework or always expecting more of me. He knew what I could accomplish, and I have not stopped pushing myself to the limits of my potential.

MALEIA M. (UGA)

When I first took the ACT, I received a 24, which was nowhere near what I needed to go to my dream school. I was immediately panicked as my GPA and class rigor met the requirements, but my ACT score was lacking. Through some friends, I heard about Jabez. They said how he has changed people’s ACT scores drastically, and I was excited to give it a go. I expected to be tutored as you are in regular schooling, but Jabez’s approach to the ACT was mind-changing. Instead of simply teaching the subjects and hoping you memorize them, Jabez taught test-taking strategies that manipulated the ACT and broke it down into a pattern to follow. With Jabez’s strategies, I received a 34 on the ACT and now feel confident about my college application.

CONOR B. (FLORIDA)

After scoring a 27 on my act and a 25 after that, I knew that I needed a tutor to help raise my ACT score. I had a consultation with a tutor prior to Jabez but never actually carried through. The tutor was kind and seemed like they knew what they were doing, but there was a certain disconnect that I couldn’t put my finger on. After meeting with Jabez for my first lesson, I immediately knew that I could tutor him. Although my goal on the ACT was only a 29 for a merit-based scholarship at a certain college, Jabez encouraged me to shoot for the highest score possible. After only 3 ½ weeks of tutoring, my score was raised to a 31. Though I was shocked, Jabez had told me all along that I would obtain this score. It was nice to know that someone had that amount of confidence in me. Jabez is a great mentor, but he’s an even better person. While I came to Jabez for help on the ACT, he also helped me with college applications and advice on where I should apply. Jabez is an extremely funny guy and anything but boring, as we often found ourselves talking about funny stories, prior experiences, and even fantasy football. All in all, Jabez is an amazing tutor, but an even better friend.

I always struggled with the ACT and with the preparation for the ACT, which put me at a disadvantage among my peers. I needed to get my score up and I felt like a tutor would be the best fit for me. My expectations were that I would get one-on-one study sessions, as well as an improved act score. I got both from Jabez. At first, I felt like it was hard to get into the packets and the study session, but in the end, I was grateful for all the work and all the time Jabez was able to dedicate to me. I was happy with my results as I improved greatly overall and some of the worst aspects of my ACT became my best. Jabez was very helpful and was always there for me when I needed it. He always made sure he drilled the material and made sure that I was on track.  He was very flexible and made sure that we got the work done, even if it meant getting an extra session, getting extra packets, or doing longer sessions. Overall, I had a great experience with Jabez, and I highly recommend him!

ARIAL M. (PURDUE)

Over the course of two ACT exams, I went from a 27 to a 34. Jabez avoids teaching formulas and “tricks” to the ACT. He taught me ACT test-taking habits and skills to naturally break down the exam. He always motivates you to do better than you thought you could. For instance, my initial goal was to score a 30. Jabez convinced me that the ACT is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that could change my life. I am so glad that I met Jabez. He was a great ACT tutor and has been a lifelong mentor.

MORGAN B. (UGA)

ACT Tutoring with Jabez has helped me focus on every component of the ACT. I was able to improve on areas of strength as well as analyze and improve on areas of difficulty. The consistent feedback and support gave me confidence and encouragement to stay motivated. Seeing my scores improve after my diligent effort was very rewarding.

ANNA D. (AUBURN)

I worked with multiple ACT tutors, but nothing seemed to help me improve my scores. One day, my parents and I heard of Jabez Park. WOW! Jabez was the answer to my prayers. His teaching method and strategies to conquer the test gave me so much more confidence when I took the ACT. Although Jabez helped me improve my ACT score, he also helped me with my college applications. He opened my eyes to goals and dreams that I did not know could become a reality. I applied to my dream schools with great supplemental essays and improved test scores. Even with the coronavirus and canceled ACT tests, Jabez continued to motivate and push me to be the best student I could be. Studying for the ACT is hard work, but with Jabez, it is enriching. Going into the last semester of my senior year, I am so thankful to have studied with Jabez and gained a long-term mentor and friend.

TAYLOR V. (GEORGETOWN)

Throughout my lessons with Jabez, I’ve experienced tremendous growth in my ability to tackle the ACT. His tutoring has helped me learn dedication, motivation, and perseverance. He is always very encouraging and pushes me to do my best.

When I was first looking for an ACT tutor I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was lucky enough to find out about Jabez through friends and I’m lucky I did. His methods and his personality combine for an experience you won’t find anywhere else. With Jabez as a tutor, you’re able to see someone who’s passionate about making sure you crush the ACT.
